Director, Information Technology

We are looking for candidates specifically in the following areas: Waterloo/Cedar Falls, IA; Flathead County, MT, or Bozeman, MT.

Short’s Travel Management (STM) is a family-owned, women-owned, private corporation. We are sports travel experts specializing in team travel, recruiting travel, group hotels, bus charters and air charters servicing hundreds of athletic departments each year.  What you'll be doing in this role:

• Develop and implement the IT strategy aligned with the company's business goals.

• Oversee the IT department's daily operations, including network management, software, hardware, and telecommunications systems.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.

• Ensure the security, stability, and scalability of IT infrastructure and systems.

• Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts.

• Plan and execute IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

• Collaborate with other departments to identify technology needs and opportunities for improvement.

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the company’s IT capabilities remain competitive.

• Oversee disaster recovery planning, data protection, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Provide executive leadership with regular reports on the status of IT initiatives, risks, and performance metrics.

 To be successful in this role, your experience should include the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; MS or MBA preferred.

• Proven experience, 10+ years, in IT management or senior-level technical roles.

• Strong leadership and team management experience.

• Demonstrated success analyzing IT departments and implementing improvement initiatives

• Experience modernizing IT service delivery methods (ITIL, Cobit, etc)

• Experience managing software development teams and modernizing development practices

• Experience developing and executing multi-year strategic technology plans 

• Proficient in budget management and vendor negotiations.

• Strong understanding of IT compliance standards and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and other departments.

• Certifications such as ITIL, COBIT, CITM, CGEIT, or PMP are a plus.
