Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Head Football Coach and Director of Player Personnel, the On-Campus Recruiting Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all recruiting activities for the Aztec football program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic recommendations, planning, organizing, and executing both on-campus and off-campus recruiting events. This includes coordinating official recruiting visits and maintaining the recruiting database. Additionally, the position involves assisting in the daily operations of the football program while ensuring strict compliance with NCAA, Mountain West Conference, university, and state regulations, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the direction and administration of all recruiting activities for the Aztec football program.
Develop and implement strategic recruiting plans and recommendations.
Organize and execute all recruiting events and activities both on and off-campus.
Coordinate official recruiting visits and ensure a positive experience for prospective student-athletes.
Independently manage and maintain the recruiting database.
Support the daily operations of the football program.
Ensure compliance with NCAA, Mountain West Conference, university, and state rules and regulations.

Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2025, with the possibility of reappointment. 
This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, and occasional travel with football team)
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry into this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Access, PowerPoint, ARMS, and various recruiting software packages.

  • Some experience in intercollegiate athletics, especially in a Division I football office.

  • General knowledge of football.

  • Ability to learn office and football terminology.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and coaches, and other campus staff, faculty, and student-athletes.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,598 per month. 

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
