Position Summary
The San Diego State University Athletic Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Facilities and Operations Assistant to effectively manage and execute the daily operations of all sanctioned athletic events while maintaining and organizing the facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling day-to-day departmental administrative and clerical tasks, including but not limited to:
Event Support: Assisting with facility scheduling, setup, and breakdown for all athletic department events, team practices, and competitions.
Budget Monitoring: Assisting with tracking and managing event-related budgets.
Credential & Contract Administration: Handling credential distribution and assisting with game contracts administration
Inventory Control: Maintaining and monitoring inventory of various items.
Team Leadership: Providing work direction to Facilities and Operations interns and student assistants.
Vendor & External Coordination: Collaborating with vendors and other external groups to support event operations.
Additionally, the Facilities and Operations Assistant will handle specific-sport game coordination duties as assigned.

Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment.
This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.)
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Key Qualifications
Experience in leading student workers.
Ability to plan, organize, and schedule athletic activities.
Experience with athletic contest agreement preparation.
Experience with preparing championship bids and/or hosting championships.
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Experience with Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Google Drive.
Experience with distributing credentials.
Ability to independently prioritize and handle work assignments.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Licenses/Certifications Required
Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,680 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
