Assistant Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach

This position is responsible for assisting the head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach in the operation of all functions related to coaching a competitive division III men’s and women’s track and field program. Fundamental duties include but are not limited to: coaching (specifically responsible for one of the following areas: 1. sprints / hurdles or 2. field events / jumps or 3. throws depending on area of expertise / qualifications), assist with meet management, assist with recruitment of student-athletes; and assist with student-athlete development.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coaching (specifically responsible for one of the following areas: 1. sprints / hurdles or 2. field events / jumps or 3. throws depending on area of expertise / qualifications)

    • Assist with planning pre-season, season, and off-season practices 

  • Assist the associate track and field coach with meet management of home meets (cross country as well as track and field) 

  • Assist the recruiting coordinator with 

    • Recruiting High-caliber student athletes with high character (cross country as well as track and field) 

  • Assist with enhancing the student-athlete collegiate experience through team expectations and culture 

    • Stress academic and athletic excellence

    • Assist with retention of student-athletes 

    • Build a positive team culture 

    • Assist with social media posts

    • Assist with other day-to-day team operations as assigned  

  • Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.  

  • Support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary’s University as a Lasallian Catholic institution.
