Manage and oversee the administration of all functions associated with the House Settlement and its impact on intercollegiate athletics. Primarily focusing on the planning, evaluation, tracking and distribution of revenue share payments to student athletes. This position will take on the responsibility of ensuring that Purdue Athletics is maintaining the highest commitment to competitive excellence in the Big Ten Conference as well as the national landscape of college athletics while also ensuring Purdue’s longstanding commitment to compliance with all rules and regulations. As a new governance model is developed, this person will have the responsibility to learn and understand the new regulations that are introduced and be able to clearly and concisely communicate the implications of these regulations to others.
Work directly with head coaches along with the offices of finance and compliance to communicate post-House settlement rules and regulations, to develop a revenue share approach and create roster cap strategies where applicable.
Participate in the development of the reporting/accounting structure needed to manage the revenue share process. Create mechanisms to track all revenue share payments to provide timely information including distribution amounts, dollars available for future recruits and the amounts available for at risk performance-based incentives.
Oversee development and distribution of revenue share agreements (contracts) with student athletes as defined by the newly emerging governance structure and the B1G Conference. Ensure contracts are updated/amended as rules and regulations change and reviewed prior to expiration. Develop a process to track all contracts by sport for revenue share amounts, duration and unique differences.
Communicate with head coaches on revenue share dollar availability and utilization.
Evaluate spending efficiency based on strategic data analysis and student athlete impact.
Evaluate and provide intelligence information to assess market value of prospective student athletes. Support recruitment efforts with the development of prospective student athlete financial proposals.
Communicate directly with businesses regarding NIL and endorsement opportunities for Purdue student athletes. Provide market value feedback as it is defined by the new governance structure and the B1G Conference to businesses wanting to partner with Purdue student athletes.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
6 years of experience working in the field of athlete representation, contracts, salary cap or NIL. Experience working with coach or athlete contract negotiations.
Proven ability to understand complicated rules and regulations and possess the ability to communicate them in a clear and concise way to a broad range of constituencies.
Also, must demonstrate proficiency in financial management systems and data analysis. Must be able to support the strategic mission of Purdue University and Intercollegiate Athletics at all times with tact and diplomacy at all times. Demonstrate strong interpersonal, creative, motivational and communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate well in writing and speaking before groups. Excellent organizational, project management, problem-solving and customer service skills required. Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels necessary. Must be able to effectively meet established deadlines in a timely manner. Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
