Director of Sport Administration & Policy

Key Responsibilities

Championships/Sport Administration

  • Serve as the Conference liaison to select sports under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, which includes:

    • Oversight of all administrative and operational details within the scope of assigned sports, prioritizing timely and effective communication to the membership.

    • Administration and on-site supervision for select Championships, including coordination of host personnel and League staff representatives and ensuring League policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.

    • Working collaboratively with League staff and member institutions to ensure relevant Conference sport operational procedures are aligned with NCAA Championship policy and correlating playing rules.

    • Monitoring current NCAA trends in select sports related to data analytics, potential changes to playing rules, Championship date formulas and formats, and Championship site specifications.

    • Assisting in the production of select regular season Conference schedules and ensuring appropriate League parameters are adhered to.

    • Managing relationships and providing administrative and operational support to the League’s officiating coordinator for select sports.

    • Assisting the Deputy Commissioner in providing internal leadership to League staff sport administrators ensuring consistency in the management of Championship operations and policy enforcement.

  • Lead the League's officiating background check program for a majority of League sports.

  • Oversee video exchange requirements in football and men's and women's soccer and troubleshoot/communicate any challenges.

  • Assist in the development of meeting materials and logistics for Sport Management Committee meetings.

  • Assist in the planning for the annual men’s and women’s basketball Championships.

 

Compliance and League Governance

  • Assist in the preparation and overall operations of various League governance committees and meetings.

  • Track and compile institutional compliance interpretations and NCAA violations.

  • Manage the League’s Medical Hardship Waiver process.

  • Serve as the League liaison to IC360.

  • Assist in the review and production of the League's Policy and Procedures manual.

  • Lead the annual Financial Aid Directors videoconference.

 

Student-Athlete Engagement and Special Projects

  • Manage the League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and other Student-Athlete Engagement initiatives.

  • Manage the Campus SAAC and Leadership Academy Liaisons.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Three or more years of conference administrative and/or championship/event management experience is preferred.

  • Applicants must be able to develop and manage strong relationships with coaches and administrators from League institutions and outside constituent groups, possess strong organizational, verbal, written and computer skills, and demonstrate the ability to manage a variety of responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite programs preferred.

  • The position will require travel, as well as the availability to work on nights and weekends.

  • The position requires the following pre-employment checks: social security verification, educational verification, and county and state criminal background checks.

Requirements

  • The League office offers a flexible work structure; however, the successful candidate will be required to work in-person at the League office in Bethlehem, PA multiple days per week

 

Reporting Structure

Based on project responsibilities, this position reports to the Deputy Commissioner/COO and Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Policy/SWA.

About the Patriot League Office:

The role and function of the Patriot League office is to provide programs and services for and on behalf of the member institutions at the campus, conference, and national levels. Working in a collaborative manner with the membership, the League office strives to provide support and a high level of service to the membership in a way that enhances institutional and League-wide efforts related to intercollegiate athletic programs and higher education.

 

The League office is headquartered in downtown Bethlehem, part of the Lehigh Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania. New York City is 70 miles east and Philadelphia is 60 miles south of Bethlehem.

 

About the Patriot League:

The Patriot League is in its fourth decade of academic and athletic achievement. Participation in athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of a well-rounded education. Full League members include American, Army West Point, Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, and Navy. Associate members include Fordham and Richmond in football, Georgetown in both football and women's rowing, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in women's rowing. Effective July 1, 2026, Villanova University and the College of William & Mary join the Patriot League as associate members in football.
