Knowledge: Knowledge of NCAA, conference, and NMU compliance rules. Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Oral and Written Communication - Active listening, speaking, and writing which ensures comprehension and understanding in both the speaker and target audience. Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others. Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Monitoring - Monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Abilities: Ability to use various computer software applications including video editing systems. Ability to organize effectively. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Ability to come up with unusual or original ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem. Ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationship with student athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, administrators, college faculty and staff, alumni, professional colleagues, and the general public. Ability to actively look for ways to help people. Ability to work effectively under stressful and high-pressure situations. Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics in the development and maintenance of the football program.

· Direct the activities of all personnel and students within the program.

 

· Evaluate student-athlete performance during training, practices and competitions.

 

· Operate within the program budget established by the Director of Athletics.

 

· Coordinate team travel arrangements and supply an appropriate itinerary 48 hours before departure.

 

· Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes. Essential

 

· Counsel, guide, advise and assist student-athletes in their academic, social, and physical development.

 

· Provide consultation with the Equipment Supervisor with respect to order, allotment and inventory of equipment utilized in the football program.

 

· Develop, plan and submit to the Director of Athletics a final schedule for the football program in a timely manner.

 

· Work cooperatively with the Sports Information Director on public relations activities and other sports information related matters.

 

· Coordinate and/or conduct revenue generation to achieve the target percentage of total program operating budget as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

 

· Abide by all NCAA, NMU, Conference, and Department of Athletics rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

· Perform community service and community engagement activities throughout the year on campus and in the Marquette community.

 

· Effectively interact with students and their families, NMU faculty and staff, other coaches and players, and the general public.

 

· Work in a safe manner, observing safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations or practices required by the University and government authorities. Work in a positive productive manner with a wide variety of NMU's students, peers and other employees, and external constituents.

 

· Regular and consistent attendance is required to effectively fulfill the duties of this position.

 

· Other duties as required, including performance of duties of a lower classification as needed.
