Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

NMU invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, a 12-month, full-time position. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will assist the Head Men's Basketball Coach with all assigned duties associated with the Intercollegiate Men's Basketball Program. The position is variable shift/variable days depending upon playing schedule, recruiting demands and department events.

Northern Michigan University (NMU) seeks an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach to assist with a comprehensive Division II basketball program that plays a role in elevating institutional pride, enhancing the student-athlete experience, and advancing the university's competitive success. The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Men's Basketball Coach with all assigned duties associated with the Intercollegiate Men's Basketball Program.

Qualifications

Required education: Course work leading to a degree Certification

Required specialized training/certifications: Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. NCAA learning portal proficiency, or passing within one month of hire. Possess a current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Required minimum work experience: Demonstrated successful basketball playing experience at the collegiate or comparative level or coaching experience at the collegiate, comparative or high school level. No prior involvement with NCAA major rules violations.

Knowledge, skills, abilities or attributes, required for satisfactory performance of the duties of the position:

•Knowledge of NCAA, conference and NMU compliance rules.

•Strong leadership abilities to mentor and develop student athletes.

•Ability to use various computer software applications including video editing systems.

•Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

•Excellent organizational skills.

•Time management skills.

•Ability to assess situations, identify problems, and implement solutions.

•Ability to work effectively under stressful and high-pressure situations.

•Ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationship with student athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, administrators, college faculty and staff, alumni, professional colleagues, and the general public.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

•Collegiate basketball playing experience.

•On- and off-campus recruitment of student athletes.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary is $45,000. NMU offers a comprehensive benefits package, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and assistance with relocation to Marquette.
