JOB SUMMARY
The Sports Information Graduate Assistant reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and assists with the promotion and coverage of 14 NCAA Division II athletic programs. This position provides hands-on experience in athletic communications, media relations, and digital content creation.
MAJOR DUTIES
Assist with game day operations including statistics, live streaming, and media coordination.
Write press releases, game recaps, and feature stories.
Maintain and update the athletics website and statistical databases.
Assist with social media content creation and scheduling.
Coordinate photography and video efforts for athletic events.
Support media relations efforts including press box management and interview coordination.
Maintain historical records, archives, and statistical information.
Assist with publications, game notes, and record books.
Follow and abide by all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Knowledge of athletic statistics and game operations.
Familiarity with social media and digital content strategies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in office settings and athletic venues. Evening and weekend work is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
Admission to a graduate program at Northeastern State University
Strong communication and organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in athletic communications or media (student worker, intern, or GA)
Familiarity with NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew, or similar platforms
Compensation includes tuition waiver for graduate classes, on-campus housing waiver, and a monthly stipend.
