JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Director of Athletics while working collaboratively with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Head Athletic Trainer and Head Coaches. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for all aspects of design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of speed, strength and conditioning programs for assigned student-athletes competing in fourteen intercollegiate programs at the NCAA Division II level.
MAJOR DUTIES
Teach, demonstrate and instruct student-athletes how to properly perform various movements.
Teach, demonstrate and model stretches that will enhance student-athletes performance.
Be intentional with instruction and teaching on all aspects of proper rest, nutrition, training, running, lifting and stretching with student-athletes.
Teach student-athletes proper pre and post workout routines to maximize training sessions with the goal of reducing injuries.
Develop team and individualized programs in a positive and motivating environment.
Maintain current records for assigned student-athletes which include proper testing to measure performance.
Provide insight to head coaches and student-athletes regarding health and nutrition as it relates to physical development and optimal performance.
Jointly responsible with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for oversight of the dome and equipment.
Provide a safe environment and organized facility while communicating with Housekeeping and Facilities Management as needs arise.
Make recommendations annually on equipment and other needs for the S&C program.
When applicable, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will supervise intern(s) and coaching staff members who assist during S&C sessions.
Occasionally discuss trends with professionals internally and externally to stay current with training and teaching techniques.
Follow and abide by all institutional, athletics conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of current speed, strength and conditioning programming, techniques and trends.
Skill in teaching proper weightlifting techniques.
Skill in teaching proper stretching and speed techniques to maximize peak performance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed standing while coaching and demonstrating S&C activities. The employee regularly lifts heavy objects.
The work is typically performed in an office, the dome and outdoors in cold/hot or inclement weather
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
When applicable, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will supervise intern(s) and coaching staff members who assist during SSC sessions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
Must obtain CSCS or SCCC certificate within 6 months of hire
First Aid/CPR/AED certified
Experience as a strength and conditioning coach (Full Time, GA, or intern)
Annual salary $38,000.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
