POSITION SUMMARY
The Major Gifts Officer for the Wolfpack Club will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift level donors ($50,000+); help plan and execute direction on capital project initiatives, endowed and annual scholarship support, legacy giving: manage a portfolio of 100-125 highly rated athletic prospects and donors. The Major Gifts Officer assists in the development and execution of major gift strategies and operations for the Wolfpack Club.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPSONSIBILITIES
· Identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects to create and grow a pipeline of major gift ($50,000 and above) donors.
· Consistently meet individual fundraising goals including personal visits, solicitations, and gifts closed.
· Strategic development and management of a portfolio with approximately 100 -125 prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $50,000 or more.
· Develop strategic relationships among athletic department staff, coaches, and campus colleagues that result in effective partnerships.
· Collaboration with University Advancement colleagues to help align donors’ philanthropic interests with various priorities across campus and generate new opportunities for athletic donor acquisition.
· Coordination of stewardship efforts as needed with appropriate University Advancement and other campus colleagues.
· Jointly develop, plan, and execute sport specific giving as a liaison to assigned varsity sport(s).
· Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
· 2 or more years of experience in collegiate athletic development, educational development, or a closely related field
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KEY COMPETENCIES
· Master’s preferred in Sports Management/Administration or related field
· Knowledge and understanding of priority point systems and concepts and their application as it relates to seating and parking for donors and ticket holders at athletics events preferred.
· Knowledge and understanding of Division I athletics and NCAA rules and regulations.
· Knowledge of principles, practices, and ethics of fundraising
· Proven proficiency in use of computers and information management tools.
· Superb interpersonal skills and ability to build productive, beneficial relationships with a broad range of constituencies.
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to effectively communicate Wolfpack Club and NC State Athletics priorities to donors and prospects, and to positively represent NC State University.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks, to assess and order priorities, and to track details in a fast-paced environment
· High level of motivation and assertiveness, as well as an ability to exercise independent judgment.
· Ability to travel around the region and to other areas of the country.
· Ability to work to the demands of the position which may exceed a 37.5-hour work week.
· Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
