Job Description:

The Head Lacrosse Coach and Lecturer in Physical Education is a full-time coaching and teaching position at the rank of lecturer. The successful candidate will coach, organize, and administer an intercollegiate varsity lacrosse program as well as teach in the physical education department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to successfully recruit, yield, mentor, and retain a diverse group of academically and athletically talented student-athletes. 

  • Identify, develop, and supervise assistant coach(s).

  • Organize, manage, and schedule practices, training programs, and contests.

  • Develop budget requests and manage budget allocations for the lacrosse program. 

  • Manage team travel and meals in consultation with the coordinator of travel and meal logistics.

  • Work with the senior associate athletics director for facilities to ensure maintenance of equipment and facilities.  

  • Promote a culture of compliance by working with the director of athletics to complete necessary NCAA paperwork, staying informed of sport and governance body rule changes to minimize violations, and in the case of violations or problems, reporting them without delay for immediate attention.

  • Create a team environment which allows all players to grow and develop as students, athletes, leaders, and individuals.

  • Foster relationships with team members so student-athletes feel supported in their academic endeavors and athletic goals.

  • Create a dynamic practice environment to meet the individual needs of each student-athlete (technical, strength and conditioning, tactical knowledge) and coach student-athletes to their full potential.

  • Promote a culture of health, well-being, and safety in all aspects of the varsity sport and physical education programs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS

  • Collegiate coaching and recruiting experience

  • The ability to foster positive relationships with student-athletes and promote a positive team culture at a competitive liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.

  • Member of the NEWMAC and NCAA Division III

  • CPR/AED certification

  • Valid drivers license

Preferred:

  • MA/MS

Hiring Range: $76,806 - $88,326
