Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant will support the communications efforts for the athletics department and its 28 varsity sports in media relations, website management, social media, graphic design, and statistics.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):

• Research, write, and edit releases featuring student-athletes, coaches, and teams

• Assist in producing content for MBUSpartans.com, Spartan Digital Network, and official athletics social media accounts

• Maintain statistics for assigned sports (in-game, reporting, recordkeeping)

• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree required within the preferred area of study of Digital Media, Film and Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Sports Management

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics preferred

CRITICAL SKILLS AND EXPERTISE: (

• Proficient or basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)

• Proficient or basic knowledge of statistical software (Presto Sports, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats)

• Proficient or basic knowledge of website content management systems (SIDEARM, Presto Sports)
