Position Function:
Provides administrative support to the Assistant AD for HRM in managing the day-to-day human resource operations for the Athletics Department. Primary responsibility for employee engagement initiatives. This position leads the Athletics Department Staff Council (ADSC) and supports programming that promotes wellness, recognition, and staff development. This position also manages core HR operational processes to ensure compliance across the employee life cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage employee engagement programs, including Athletics Department Staff Council (ADSC) initiatives, staff events, wellness activities, and recognition programs.
2. Serve as the coordinator for professional development initiatives.
3. Collaborate with the Assistant AD for HRM and Deputy AD for Strategic Initiatives and Administration to design and implement engagement strategies aligned with departmental S.T.A.T.E. of Mind values.
4. Manage HR operational processes, including onboarding, offboarding, timesheet monitoring, and leave tracking.
5. Prepare and process HR forms, including Position Approval Request Forms (PARFs), Employment Action Forms (EAFs), I-9s, and related employment documents.
6. Manage affiliate staff requests and access.
7. Maintain personnel records in Teamworks and department electronic databases to ensure accurate reporting.
8. Provide guidance to staff on HR policies, procedures, and compliance expectations.
9. Develop and distribute HR-related communications, including newsletters and SWAY updates.
10. Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and practices and federal and state regulations.
11. Support special projects and reporting requests as directed by the Assistant AD for HRM and Deputy AD for Strategic Initiatives and Administration.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and 4 years experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field.
2. Previous experience working in a university environment.
3. Experience with Banner system.
4. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.

1. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
2. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
4. Knowledge of customer service principles, techniques, systems, and standards.
5. Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
6. Knowledge and understanding of business management principles and practices.
7. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
2. No or very limited physical effort required.
3. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
