Director of Creative Video

Position Function:

The Director of Creative Video helps lead and guide Mississippi State Athletics’ creative video efforts, supporting the development, production, and execution of video content across all sports, with a primary creative focus on the men’s basketball program. This position assists in managing a team of full-time staff and student interns, contributing to Mississippi State’s overall visual storytelling and brand advancement across social, digital, and in-venue platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Help lead and assist in supervising the creative video content team and contribute to the overall video content strategy for all MSU Athletics programs, with a primary focus on men’s basketball.
2. Work closely with the Communications, Marketing, and Broadcast teams to plan and produce videos and digital assets that align with departmental initiatives, including storytelling, social media, recruiting, marketing, ticket sales, videoboard, and donor engagement.
3. Collaborate with the Assistant AD for Creative Strategy and Senior Associate AD for Communications and Content to guide the daily operations, workflow, and creative output of the video department.
4. Provide input and creative direction for a team of 3-5 full-time staff members and multiple student interns, helping develop a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing creative environment.
5. Assist with creative media needs supporting assigned sports – particularly men’s basketball – while also serving other departmental areas such as Bulldog Club, Bulldog Athlete Services, and Bulldog Sports Properties/Learfield.
6. Contribute to setting and executing a unified creative vision for video across all social media and digital platforms, ensuring consistency with MSU brand standards and messaging.
7. Meet quick turnarounds to post high quality videos on same day that events occur, while meeting the guiding principles, strategies and goals of the department.
8. Provide insight to push department forward with emerging trends in social, digital media, as well as in-venue entertainment.
9. Ensure consistency in brand guidelines and messaging related to content and posting.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
Helps supervise a creative video team consisting of 3-5 full-time staff members and several student interns.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Videography, Photography, Graphic Design or related field
- Experience: 2 years, Creative Media Services

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC and University policies and procedures.
• Ability to travel with the team.
• Professional, optimistic, positive problem-solver.
• Required to work quickly, efficiently, and with adaptability under strict deadlines.
• Ability to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite required, specifically Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
• Work experience and knowledge of video production, including but not limited to shooting, non-linear editing, color correction, audio editing.
• Experience within NCAA Division I college athletics program desired.
• Proven success producing creative and innovative multi-media content.
• Experience in other multi-media production platforms (web sites, animation, graphic design) desired
• Knowledge of professional and cinematic video camera equipment required, including but not limited to Sony Cinema Line cameras and lenses (Fx3, Fx6, and Fx9), DJI gimbal systems, and Black Magic Design camera systems.
• Knowledge of a collegiate athletics department and the NCAA structure desired.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion.
• Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc.
• Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
