Position Title: Video Production Coordinator – Graduate Assistant
Reports To: Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations
Department: Mercer Athletics

Position Summary:
Join Mercer Athletics as a key contributor to the dynamic and fast-paced world of Division I collegiate sports! As the Video Production Coordinator – Graduate Assistant, you will oversee the video production and broadcasting efforts for Mercer Athletics. Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information, you’ll lead the execution of live athletic event coverage, mentor a talented student production team, and deliver high-quality content for ESPN+ and other platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate student with a passion for sports broadcasting to gain hands-on experience, enhance leadership skills, and help shape the narrative of Mercer’s athletic success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Live Event Broadcasting:

    • Plan, produce, and direct live broadcasts for all athletic events on ESPN+ and local television stations.

    • Ensure high-quality production standards to maximize viewer engagement.

  2. Team Leadership & Training:

    • Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of student broadcasters and freelancers.

    • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages skill development and creativity.

  3. Content Creation:

    • Collaborate with athletic department staff to create compelling video content showcasing athletes, events, and the Mercer University community.

  4. Equipment Management:

    • Oversee the maintenance and operation of video production equipment, ensuring all gear is functional and up-to-date.

  5. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure all video content meets NCAA, ESPN, and departmental standards of quality and professionalism.

  6. Scheduling Management:

    • Coordinate schedules for freelancers and the student broadcast team, ensuring efficient and seamless event coverage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in video production and content creation, preferably in a sports or collegiate environment.

  • Expertise in broadcast equipment, including production switchers, graphics systems, replay systems, and audio consoles.

  • Familiarity with NCAA and ESPN regulations and guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional technical troubleshooting abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical thinking and sound professional judgment.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Willingness to travel and work weekends as needed.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience producing or directing high-level sports productions.

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
