Job Summary
Mercer University, a NCAA Division I institution, member of the Southern Conference invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for Soccer within the department of Athletics. The successful applicant must meet the admission requirements for Mercer’s Graduate School. Soccer/sports background is preferred, but not required.
Serve as the Director of Operations for soccer program
a. Coordinate all aspects of team logistics for home & away matches: develop itineraries, arrange transportation, hotels, meals, training times, video exchange, uniform colors, budget management & budget forecasting, data entry
b. A. Serve as liaison between coaching staff and support staff, as well as the visiting team
c. Manage special events: Alumni, Senior Day, Banquets
d. Aid in Fundraising efforts and organizing community service
e. Assistant in running and organizing camps/clinics
f. Academic lead between student-athletes and our academic advisor
2. Assistant Coach – not mandatory (this will be based on interest/capabilities)
a. Help assist within individual and team training & game environments
b. Assist with Recruiting: creation of yearly calendar, organization & implementation of visits, input data into ARMS, and recruit PSA’s off campus
c. Assist with field set up: Training Sessions & Game Day Warm Up
3. Other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
As a part of your responsibilities, you will follow the regulations and guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Mercer University.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for the graduate assistantship, the student must:
Be fully admitted and enrolled as a degree-seeking student in an eligible Mercer University graduate program, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Education (MEd) in Higher Education Leadership
Successfully complete graduate assistantship application and interview process
Successfully maintain full-time, graduate-level course load each term in which the student is employed as a graduate assistant
Maintain good academic standing for the duration of the academic program
Work Hours
Varies. Days and nights.
