Assistant Athletic Director, Communication and Digital Strategy

Summary:

The position of Assistant Director, Athletics Communications & Digital Strategy, will report to the Athletic Director. This role will support the University's mission and the athletic department's core values of SPIRIT, SERVICE, and STRENGTH.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary communications contact for designated sports for our national championship Fighting Knights.
  • Serve as secondary contact for the remaining athletic programs, including in-game functions for all sports at some point throughout the year.
  • Create unique written content, features, and releases, design media guides, compile statistics, and oversee website and social media content.
  • Edit video highlights, interviews, and photos for the athletic website and social media.
  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of the department's social media outreach plan.
  • Arrange media interviews and conduct interviews, travel to select away events, etc.
  • Assist in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports and events as required.
  • Assist with coordination of community outreach events with student-athletes and staff.
  • Oversee the Lynn Sports Network.
  • Serve in a supervisory role with full-time, student, and part-time staff.
  • Manages the execution of the annual Hall of Fame/Student-Athlete Awards Show.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, inspire, and lead others. 
  • Demonstrated professional judgment and discretion. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility, time management, initiative, organizational skills, and daily multi-tasking. 
  • Strong writing, editing, computer, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Statcrew/The Automated Scorebook, Final Cut, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign & Premier, and have some knowledge of HTML code.
  • Digital photography, video editing, and statistical software experience preferred.
  • Night and weekend work required.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of advanced employment experience in communication services and/or media relations and experience supervising a communications unit.
