Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Experience and Training
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level
- Strong leadership skills
- Must have and maintain a national accredited Strength and Conditioning certification (CSCS, SCCC )
- Must have and maintain CPR/AED Certification
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Understanding of all sports and the training principals behind them.
- Ability to relate to and work with student athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Will be expected to work extended hours that are often outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel with team(s) will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and manages a program of on- and off-field athletic development to enhance the performance levels and well-being of the University’s student athletes.
- Designs and implements strength and conditioning programs, which include power, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition, and conditioning for assigned teams.
- Ensures safe and correct execution of exercise techniques.
- Monitors, documents, and reports athletes’ progression, including strength, speed, power and explosion metrics, to all athletes and coaches.
- Collaborates with athletic training staff in development of rehab protocols for injured athletes as well as development of alternative training methods for injured/rehabilitating athletes.
- Maintains an open line of communication with the other members of the performance staff, sport coaches, and athletes.
- Meets with recruits as requested by sport coaches.
- Ensures upkeep and maintenance of the weight room.
- Assist in the supervision of interns and students.
- Assist other performance coaches with their teams when needed.
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with student athletes and staff.
- Maintain highest levels of professionalism and integrity at all times in or outside of the workplace.
- Ensures all programs adhere to NCAA compliance and safety standards.
