Associate Sports Performance Coach

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required; Master’s degree preferred

 

Experience and Training

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must have and maintain a national accredited Strength and Conditioning certification (CSCS, SCCC )
  • Must have and maintain CPR/AED Certification

 

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Understanding of all sports and the training principals behind them.
  • Ability to relate to and work with student athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Will be expected to work extended hours that are often outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel with team(s) will be required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and manages a program of on- and off-field athletic development to enhance the performance levels and well-being of the University’s student athletes.
  • Designs and implements strength and conditioning programs, which include power, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition, and conditioning for assigned teams.
  • Ensures safe and correct execution of exercise techniques.
  • Monitors, documents, and reports athletes’ progression, including strength, speed, power and explosion metrics, to all athletes and coaches.
  • Collaborates with athletic training staff in development of rehab protocols for injured athletes as well as development of alternative training methods for injured/rehabilitating athletes.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with the other members of the performance staff, sport coaches, and athletes.
  • Meets with recruits as requested by sport coaches.
  • Ensures upkeep and maintenance of the weight room.
  • Assist in the supervision of interns and students.
  • Assist other performance coaches with their teams when needed.
  • Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with student athletes and staff.
  • Maintain highest levels of professionalism and integrity at all times in or outside of the workplace.
  • Ensures all programs adhere to NCAA compliance and safety standards.
