Graduate Assistant for Men’s Soccer
LOCATION: Longview, Texas
REPORTS TO: Head Men’s Soccer Coach
SCHEDULE: Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility, including evenings and weekends.
DUTIES: Responsible for the leadership and development of student athletes including:
Discipleship
Discipleship of men in the program to facilitate spiritual growth in each student athlete
Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition
Monitoring academic performance of student athletes and working to ensure the discipleship, development, and retention of student athletes
Counseling team members in disciplinary, academic, or personal matters while consulting with LETU administration on matters requiring resolution of problems.
Recruiting
Recruit and retain quality student athletes who understand and embrace LeTourneau University’s mission and vision as the Christian Polytechnic University
Find and enroll student athletes that are equipped with the ability to achieve academic and athletic success
Working in conjunction with the head coach to fill a roster with an appropriately competitive number
Excellence
Work to ensure we are the most effective and most successful athletic department in the American Southwest Conference in all facets
Preparing the student athletes in the analyses of specific sport analyses and planning strategies accordingly
Handling all social media accounts for the LETU men’s soccer program, regularly producing engaging content
Service
Regularly serve in the department in any area needed, including spiritual development, field maintenance, home events oversight, and fundraising activities
Contributing and caring for the development and growth of the athletic department, in tangible ways
Creating service and mission opportunities for student athletes to invest in the community
Administrative Effectiveness
Ensuring compliance with the University, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA policies and regulations
Approaching every facet of this position with a high degree of professionalism
Performing other duties as requested by the head coach or Vice President for Athletics
QUALIFICATIONS: LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith committed to a Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.
1. An accredited bachelor's degree is required; along with acceptance into an LETU graduate program.
2. Outstanding ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members.
3. Strong organizational gifting, in order to achieve administrative excellence.
4. Ability recruit in line with the mission of athletic department.
5. Good written and oral communication skills.
6. A strong understanding of and commitment to NCAA Division III.
7. An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
