Graduate Assistant for Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

 

LOCATION:                Longview, Texas

REPORTS TO:            Head Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach

SCHEDULE:               Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility, including evenings and weekends, especially during competition season.

DUTIES: Responsible for assisting Track and Cross Country coaches in the leadership and development of student athletes including:

 

Discipleship

·         Facilitate spiritual growth by one-on-one meetings with assigned student athletes.

·        Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition.

·        Be ready and willing to lead Team Devotionals and small groups as needed.

Recruiting

·         Assist in recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes who understand and embrace LeTourneau University’s mission and vision as the Christian Polytechnic University.

·        Filter through recruiting sites, attending HS track meets for recruiting, keeping our recruiting platform organized and assisting in the organization of campus visits for recruits.

·        Working in conjunction with the head coaches to maintain a roster with an appropriate competitive number of student athletes.

 

Excellence

·         Work to ensure we are the most effective and most successful athletic department in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in all facets, including competitive and administrative excellence.

·        Working with student athletes on technical development and assisting coaches with creating training plans as assigned.

·        Handling all social media accounts for the LETU Men’s and Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country programs, regularly producing engaging content.

·        Maintain an elite level of professionalism with all student athletes in the LeTourneau Athletic Department.

 

Service

·         Being willing to serve in the department in any area needed, including spiritual development, home events oversight, equipment maintenance, and fundraising activities.

·        Contributing and caring for the development and growth of the athletic department, in tangible ways.

·        Help organize service and mission opportunities for student athletes to invest in the community.

Administrative Effectiveness

·        Assist in the operations of the program, including securing hotel contracts, transportation contracts, meal coordination, travel itineraries, expenditure recording, inventory, gear design, meet entry, and meet administration.

·        Approaching every facet of this position with a high degree of professionalism.

·        Maintain a well‑organized and up‑to‑date email inbox to ensure timely communication.

·        Performing other duties as requested by the head coaches or Vice President for Athletics

 

QUALIFICATIONS: LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith committed to a Christian higher education that integrates faith with learning.

1.        An accredited bachelor's degree is required; along with acceptance into an LETU graduate program.

2.        Outstanding ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members.

3.        Strong organizational gifting to achieve administrative excellence.

4.        Ability to recruit in line with the mission of athletic department and track & field and cross country programs.

5.        Good written and oral communication skills.

6.        A strong understanding of and commitment to NCAA Division III.

7.        An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
