About This Role:

 The Lamar University Director of Sports Nutrition role is intended for registered dietitians interested in pursuing a career in collegiate athletics. This position will allow the opportunity to work with Division I student-athletes, while also developing administrative skills (Ex. budgeting, inventory, etc.). The position will work directly with all 17 sports teams and will serve as the preceptor for the Dietetic Internship Graduate Level Program on-campus, while serving an integral role in the Lamar University Athletics Department. Position reports directly to the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operational management of Lamar University Athletics Market Basket
    Nutrition Center.

  • Daily food preparation for student athletes

  • Frequent consultation with teams and individual student athletes

  • Serves as mentor to student employees and volunteers

  • Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts of current/future student employees and
    volunteers

  • Other duties as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

  • Punctuality, work ethic, reliability, adaptable, professional, detailed

  • Understanding and following of confidentiality/privacy rules and regulations

  • Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally moves supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to the position summary and essential job functions

  • Registered Dietitian (or RD eligible within 3 months of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years relevant experience in a colligate athletic setting or comparable and desire to work towards Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential
