Position Summary
The head coach for women’s lacrosse is responsible for the organization and administration of the women’s lacrosse program. Reporting to the director of athletics, this 12-month, full-time position provides
- An excellent opportunity to mentor and empower players to be their best selves on and off the field; and
- The ability to build up and build upon positive relationships with prospective student-athletes and their families, colleagues, alumni, donors, and the greater Kalamazoo community.
Responsibilities and Priorities
Supported by an experienced athletic training team and a knowledgeable strength and conditioning coaching staff, this eager team is excited for their next head coach.
In addition to the above, responsibilities include
- Recruiting and retaining academically and athletically talented students;
- Managing an operational budget including fundraising;
- Hiring and supervising an assistant coach;
- Partnering with the sports information director on public relations opportunities;
- Knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, MIAA, and institutional rules and regulations;
- Instruct Physical Education classes as determined by the PE Department Chair and the Provost;
- Involvement in departmental and campus committees; and
- Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree at minimum but a master’s degree is preferred, and many of the following traits:
- A commitment to the student-athlete experience;
- Evidence of strong organizational and effective communication skills;
- Current knowledge of NCAA and MIAA regulations;
- Ability to successfully recruit college-level student-athletes;
- Previous coaching experience with a minimum of five years preferred;
- Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence;
- Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public;
- A commitment to the welfare and well-being of the student-athlete while maintaining appropriate player-coach boundaries;
- Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fundraising, promotions, and other similar endeavors as they relate to the lacrosse program and the entire Athletics Department.

Kalamazoo College, is an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), located in southwestern Michigan. Relevant accolades include:
- A Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse player was named as the 2024 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year;
- A Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse player was named as the 2024 MIAA Rookie of the Year;
- The 2024 Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse team had four players selected to the All-MIAA team;
- The Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse team finished their 2024 season play with a conference record of 5-2 and an overall record of 10-4, including an appearance in the MIAA postseason tournament;
- The 2024 Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse team finished second in the MIAA and hosted an MIAA postseason tournament game for the first time in program history;
- The 2024 Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse team broke numerous records over the course of the season including most team wins, most goals scored, and most assists;
- The 2025 Kalamazoo College women’s lacrosse team returns eleven of twelve starters from the 2024 season.
