Intern / Assistant Softball Coach

Primary Function:

The Intern / Assistant Softball Coach will be involved in the day-to-day activities of D-III women’s softball program.  Responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the program including but not limited to coaching, recruiting, teaching duties, transporting teams to games and tournaments, and additional tasks assigned.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assists the head coach in coordinating and processes all aspects of; on and off campus student-athlete recruitment, scheduling of season and practice times, preparation and scouting of opponents.

  • Provide customer services to student athletes, faculty and administration, parents, fans, and community.

  • Assists head coach with responsibility for functioning within a set budget, game and practice preparation, team travel arrangements, purchasing and maintaining safe and adequate equipment, attending conference coaches' meetings, and knowing and abiding by conference guidelines and NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Assists head coach in initiating changes that will improve the quality of the program and the experience of the student-athlete.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs general duties to ensure the quality, safety, and the development of the programs and the experience of the student-athlete.

  • Supports a welcoming College environment.

  • Completes duties as assigned by head coach.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics.

Qualifications:


Education, Certifications, Training, Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred

  • Previous successful college/high school playing and or coaching/teaching experience preferred

Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:

  • Ability to coach, teach, and recruit within the philosophy of Division III athletics and a liberal arts institution

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the game

  • Dedication to the development of the total student-athlete

  • Strong communication and interaction skills

Strong computer skills
