Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

Perform and supervise a variety of activities involving the physical care of and sports equipment support for Georgia Tech intercollegiate sports athletes. May include prevention and treatment of injuries; therapy, coordination of medications, first aid/CPR training, equipment movement and storage; and liaison with physician and healthcare facilities. Specific duties may vary based on sports team assignments. This position will interact on a consistent basis with training staff, student athletes and coaching staff. This position typically will advise and counsel student athletes and student trainers. This position may supervise training staff members.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Perform first aid; treat or refer injuries.

Job Duty 2 - Assist in rehabilitation efforts.

Job Duty 3 - Maintain and furnish safety equipment and supplies.

Job Duty 4 - Provide first aid and CPR training to staff and coaches.

Job Duty 5 - Liaise with outside physicians and healthcare facilities and services regarding healthcare delivery.

Job Duty 6 - Prepare and maintain training records and reports.

Job Duty 7 - May supervise and provide work guidance to training staff members.

Job Duty 8 - Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in Athletic Training or an educational program accredited by the National Athletic Trainers Association - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses required for this job: Certification from the Board for Athletic Trainers, CAATE, NTA or other accredited body for Athletic trainers

Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires a working knowledge of preventive physical care for athletes, injury treatment and rehabilitation methodology as applied within a intercollegiate sports program environment.  Also required are skills in supervision, first aid and CPR.
