Director of Athletic Event, Facilities, & Equipment
Position Summary:
• Must possess independent decision-making skills related to event operations and management, facility maintenance, concession stand, and equipment room needs.
• Supervise home event operations and meet with administrators and head coaches before the first home competition.
• Event set up and tear down of athletic facilities and equipment, as needed.
• In conjunction with the Assistant AD for Internal Operations, manage and oversee the scheduling of all contests and facilities.
• Serves as primary facility representative and occasionally gameday administrator for all NCAA contests and external rentals.
• Provide all necessary communication and support to ensure the timely completion of the necessary paperwork and reports.
• Assists with developing a deferred maintenance record and make recommendations for facility needs and priorities.
• Responsible for the general maintenance of equipment and facilities including secondary certified pool operator for the university pool, working in concert with the physical plant and recreation and wellness center staff.
• Attend and, on occasion, lead event management meetings.
• Develop, train, and oversee student-worker and internship models to provide career-ready experiences for students.
• Support crisis management of officials, table crew, equipment and facilities, spectators and their behavior, weather conditions, etc.
• Oversees items related to athletic and external events, including but not limited to: student-worker oversight, work orders (set-up, clean-up), concession stand, and follow-up.
• Support solutions to continuously improve customer service and enhance game-day experiences for the fans.
• Assist with Summer Sports Camps and external entities, as requested.
• Oversee the equipment room inventory and compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree; masters degree preferred
Experience: Event and facility operation experience in a college or high school setting. Prior supervisory experience and/or experience leading projects.
Skills: Solution-based approach with the skill to anticipate and troubleshoot potential issues related to event and facility operations, knowledge of NCAA gameday and facility requirements, ability to manage inventory and general office/computer skills, general knowledge of equipment, and the ability to communicate and work with constituents with various needs.
Licenses or Certifications: A valid driver's license in good standing. Per Gannon's Institutional Policy Manual there can be no suspensions on the Motor Vehicle Record for 5 years prior to being hired. Certified Pool Operator certification is required, which can be obtained with financial support from the university upon hire.
