Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations

Facilities Leadership & Planning

  • Provide administrative oversight for all Athletics events and facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

  • Partner with campus units and external vendors to coordinate scheduling, maintenance, and operational logistics.

  • Play a key role in long-term facilities planning efforts in collaboration with Athletics and university leadership.

  • Play a key role in planning and implementing capital projects, renovations, and facility upgrades.

  • Ensure facilities operations align with budget parameters and fan/student-athlete experience goals.

 

Event Operations Management

  • Oversee planning and execution of all home athletic events and play a prominent role to help secure and support management & operational oversight of special events such as concerts and other large-scale gatherings held in Athletics’ venues.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, NCAA standards, and institutional policies.

  • Coordinate with campus departments, public safety, marketing, and external partners to ensure seamless event execution.

  • Implement best practices to enhance game-day operations and customer service.

  • Review & approve all contest agreements prior to execution/signing.

  • Serve as the primary administrator responsible for ensuring competitions across all sport programs are contracted & scheduled to minimize overlap and increase fan attendance.

 

Sport Program Administration

  • Provide direct sport supervision for programs assigned by the Director of Athletics.

  • Ensure sports programs align with departmental values, competitive standards, fiscal expectations, and student-athlete welfare priorities.

  • Support coach development, strategic planning, and program evaluation.

  • Monitor operational needs and resource allocation for assigned sports.

  • Assist the Athletic Business Office and Athletic Equipment staff in planning, managing, and monitoring athletic equipment purchases to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with approved budget parameters.

  • Collaborate with the Athletics Business Office to regularly conduct sport-by-sport cost & revenue analysis, and to help centralize sport programs purchasing.

  • In collaboration with the Athletic Business Office, annually provide budget and fiscal management training for head coaches and sport program budget managers.

 

Cross Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Assistant AD for Finance & Business Operations and the athletic business office to ensure facilities and event operations remain within approved budgets.

  • Collaborate with compliance, academics, development, marketing, and external relations units to support holistic program success.

 

Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead and develop staff responsible for facilities operations and event management.

  • Establish operational standards and performance metrics.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.

  • Lead quarterly meetings of all sport supervisors to discuss key issues.

  • Possess a strong understanding of the athletics department’s culture and expectations to effectively identify and address critical issues that may arise.

  • Conduct and analyze end-of-season student-athlete surveys and report findings to the Executive Leadership Team.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to departmental strategic planning initiatives related to facilities growth, special event expansion, and sport program competitiveness.

  • Support conference transition strategies and infrastructure alignment.
