The Assistant Director for Football Academics (Senior Student Athletic Academic Coordinator, Level II) in SAAS will be responsible for monitoring academic eligibility and providing academic advising support services for assigned Football student-athletes. This position will also have various administrative oversights and responsibilities.
Additional Duties include:
Monitoring NCAA academic eligibility, academic advising, providing individualized academic support services, coordinating study table, and attending weekly coaches/oversight meetings to provide information related to student-athlete academic progress.
Providing academic progress updates to the Assistant Dean/Associate Athletics Director of SAAS, Football coaching staff members, and athletics administration. Serve as the lead Football academic advisor in the absence of the Director of Football Academics.
Oversight of one or more major administrative programs in SAAS. Serve as a liaison between Undergraduate Studies, Athletic Department, faculty, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and other Academic Departments. Involved in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes which includes interaction with recruits and their families, coaches, guidance counselors, and alumni. Has occasional contact with the media and officials from the ACC and NCAA.
Bachelors degree and four years of related experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.
Master's degree.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Experience working with student-athletes by monitoring their academic progress and employment of educational strategies.
Experience in presenting educational workshops for student-athletes.
Experience with academic advising/oversight in a secondary or post-secondary setting.
Experience working independently and prioritizing work under deadlines.
Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Ability to supervise staff.
Ability to interpret and explain policies to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative.
Ability to deal with people calmly, confidently and with complete objectivity.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
