Deputy Director of Athletics

The Deputy Director of Athletics will provide strategic vision and leadership for a department that has aspirations to be a model Division I athletic program in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) under Director of Athletics, Jennifer Strawley. Playing a critical role in strategic planning, goal setting, fundraising, staff development, sport program oversight, community engagement and revenue generation, this position will drive the department to advance its goals and establish excellence.

Serving on the Department’s executive leadership team, this position will represent the Director of Athletics and the department in various campus and community engagements and serve as a key leader with the Director of Athletics setting expectations, policy and culture for the Department.

Day-to-day, the Deputy Director of Athletics will have direct oversight of development, communications, tickets and marketing including the operations, strategic efforts, staffing, budgetary and revenue goals for each area. The Deputy Director of Athletics will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase revenues generated across the department, increase fan and student engagement and increase the exposure and brand of the athletics department. The position will also be responsible for the supervision of assigned sport programs providing leadership for coaches to advance the efforts of our competitive success.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership in driving culture and guiding vision. The candidate should have 8+ years of progressive experience in intercollegiate athletics, along with dedicated management of and operational experience with revenue generation (i.e., fundraising, marketing, ticket sales, etc.).

In addition, the ideal candidate is an elite relationship-builder with both internal and external constituents and understands how to motivate and engage others around a united vision to excel. An extensive background in the administration of sport programs will be imperative to success.
