Position Description

Eastern University is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Men’s & Women’s Wrestling to establish, lead, and oversee all aspects of the newly created men’s and women’s wrestling programs. This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven ability to build successful athletic programs from the ground up, including recruiting, budgeting, program management, and strategic planning. The Director will be responsible for fostering a competitive, inclusive, and academically supportive Christ-centered environment that aligns with the university’s mission of Faith, Reason, and Justice.

Position Responsibilities

Program Development & Oversight

  1. Develop and implement the men’s and women’s wrestling programs from inception, ensuring competitive and compliant programs in alignment with institutional objectives.

  2. Design and execute strategic plans for both programs, including training and competition schedules.

  3. Establish long-term goals for program growth, community engagement, and competitive excellence.

Recruiting

  1. Create and implement comprehensive recruiting strategies to successfully identify and attract qualified student-athletes for both teams, achieving full rosters for the initial competition in Fall 2026.

  2. Develop relationships with high school coaches, wrestling clubs, and prospective athletes to promote Eastern University wrestling programs.

  3. Manage and participate in recruitment visits, assessments, and signing processes to build rosters that balance competitive skill with academic commitment.

Budget Management

  1. Develop and oversee operating budgets for both wrestling programs, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with university and NCAA guidelines.

  2. Identify and pursue opportunities for fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships that support program growth and financial sustainability.

Coaching & Athlete Development

  1. Hire and manage assistant coaches, support staff, and other necessary personnel.

  2. Plan and lead effective, safe, and compliant training sessions, skill development programs, and strength and conditioning activities.

  3. Foster a supportive and motivating environment that emphasizes personal growth, academic achievement, and athletic performance.

Compliance & Student-Athlete Well-being

  1. Ensure all program activities comply with NCAA regulations, conference rules, and Eastern University policies.

  2. Advocate for and monitor the academic progress, mental health, and overall well-being of student-athletes.

  3. Promote a culture of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship within the team and with all university stakeholders.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

3)      Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance and; 

4)      Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check. 

 

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have "direct contact with children" must complete the background check process prior to employment.  Results must be submitted within ten days of receipt.
