Eastern University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Events and Operations/Facilities. This role provides leadership in the oversight, operation, scheduling, and execution of all home athletics contests at Eastern University. This is done in accordance with university, conference, and NCAA guidelines. The Assistant Director of Athletics Events is responsible for managing all gameday operations hosted by Eastern University Athletics. This position will assist the Assistant Director of Athletics for High Performance & External Operations in the procurement of game contracts and scheduling of game officials.
Facilities & Operations Management: Manage the scheduling of all athletic spaces across the St. David’s, coordinating practice schedules for in-season, non-traditional, and developmental teams. Serve as the athletic department’s central operations lead for facility upkeep, which includes assisting with the physical preparation and maintenance of spaces for practices and competitions, performing minor maintenance, and managing all main campus facility work requests. In collaboration with the Athletic Director and the Assistant AD of High Performance/External Operations, this role will audit athletic spaces to identify, track, and strategize facility updates and operational issues. Throughout all facility and scheduling duties, the individual is accountable for modeling a professional demeanor inherent in higher education and athletics, emphasizing student-athlete mentorship in alignment with the University's mission.
Game Management and Operations (50%): Serve as the primary game manager for all home athletic contests, overseeing contest setup, breakdown, flow, safety, and fan experience. Act as the primary contact for visiting teams and officials. Coordinate sport coach coverage for game day responsibilities to ensure equitable assignment distribution. Assist with procuring game contracts and scheduling game officials. Develop game management policies and procedures.
General Facilities Management and Maintenance (30%): Serve as the primary contact and operations lead for facility upkeep, maintenance, and main campus work requests. Perform minor maintenance and assist with physical preparation of athletic spaces for practices and competitions. Audit athletic spaces alongside department leadership to identify, track, and repair operational gaps or updates. Create and execute regular preventative maintenance schedules for campus facilities, game systems, and equipment (e.g., scoreboards, shot clocks, PA systems). Report facility needs to ensure NCAA and Conference competition standards are maintained.
Athletics Scheduling (20%): Coordinate and schedule all in-season, non-traditional, and developmental practices across the St. David’s campus. Maintain a fair and equitable distribution of practice times for all teams. Collaborate with the broader University on scheduling outside entities interested in using Eastern Athletics facilities.
Status: Staff, Salaried, Exempt, 12 months per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Working knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and compliance processes.
Understanding of NCAA Division III competition rules and procedures.
Strong organizational Skills
