Duties of the Position

  • Serve as EMU Athletics’ Student-Athlete Development Coordinator

  • Create all content for “SASS TV;” outreach to departmental and campus partners for pertinent information to include on a weekly basis

  • Responsible for all student-athlete development messaging through Teamworks; event reminders, call(s) for volunteers, assigning volunteers and creating new event appointments

  • Liaison to University Advising and Career Development Center (career services) and Athletics Development staff to facilitate messaging surrounding prospective job opportunities for current student-athletes

  • Acting staff advisor for Student-Athlete Advisor Committee (SAAC)

  • Manage all aspects of Teamworks’ Pathways program; including benchmarking pillars tracking and reporting

  • Create marketing materials for all student-athlete development events

  • Perform regular updates to Pathways Events calendar; adding/editing appointments, outreach to departmental and campus partners to call for events

  • Plan and execute all student-athlete career planning, personal development and wellbeing programming; trainings, workshops and/or speakers

  • Serve as secondary contact for planning 1-MAC Week and Mental Health Awareness Week

  • Manage departmental community service hours tracking and reporting

  • Assists in departmental planning for Student-Athlete Appreciation Day and Student-Athlete Welcome Back Event

  • Coordinate student-athlete award’s show “YPSIs Awards”

  • Perform research on student-athlete development programming and best practices, as needed

  • Ability to work effectively and relate to a diverse group of coaches, faculty, staff, and student-athletes

  • Must exercise high-level attention to detail for assigned data entry tasks

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Skills in written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail and high degree of openness to new approaches and new ideas.

  • Willingness to seek continuing education and training opportunities for professional growth

  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and university personnel

  • Knowledge of Google platforms and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiarity with, and willingness to expand working knowledge of NCAA, MAC and Eastern Michigan Athletics governance rules and expectations

  • Full-time enrollment in an Eastern Michigan University graduate program

  • Maintain good academic standing in graduate program; subject to academic standing review at the close of the fall term

  • Completion of background check

 

Position Term & Compensation

  • Monday, August 18, 2025 through Friday, May 1, 2026 (8-month appointment, review for renewal at end of 8 months)

  • 9-credits of graduate tuition per semester

  • $10,000 stipend for the academic year, paid bi-weekly

Work Schedule

  • Minimum of 20 hours per week

  • Evening and weekend hours are required

Pathways students who are enrolled in six graduate credit hours may be eligible under certain conditions. Applicants with condition 5 status or condition 4 status due to reasons of low undergraduate grade-point average are NOT ELIGIBLE for graduate assistantships. Students with admission for continuing education, non-degree and teacher certification are also not eligible for a graduate assistantship.
