Communications Assistantship

Essential Functions:

· Serve as the primary and/or secondary media contact for multiple programs (women’s volleyball, men’s tennis, women’s lacrosse)

· Produce media guides, game notes, news releases and feature stories

· Generate feature content, video and other unique coverage for GoDuke.com, the official website of Duke Athletics

· Respond to media requests

· Staff home and selected away events

· Supervise statistical crews and other event support personnel

· Participate in the assigned sports’ creative working group

· Compile statistics, researching historical records for Duke Department of Athletics publications and assisting the communications staff with additional duties.

Minimum Requirements:

· Experience in a collegiate or professional media relations environment

· Outstanding written and oral communications skills

· Demonstrated organizational skills

· Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, The Automated Scorebook and NCAA Live Stats.

Education

Work requires analytical, communication and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program.
