Job Summary:
Drake University, a Division I institution completing in the Missouri Valley Conference, seeks applicants for an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. The successful candidate will assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans and provide feedback and demonstrations to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development. In addition, they will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. Prior college coaching experience required.
Skills Needed:
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
Skills to help student-athletes improve through training/coaching
Proficiency to produce scouting reports, recruiting evaluations and complete work within deadlines.
Experience with Synergy, video editing, FastDraw software.
Familiarity for current research and trends in basketball.
Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge and basic proficiency using Word, Excel, Google Applications,, and Photoshop.
Knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations.
Candidates must have a valid drivers license and meet the insurability requirements to drive on behalf of the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred.
Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.
Coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
Job Duties:
30% - Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre-and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes about athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency. - (Essential)

10% - Assist with administrative duties, including but not limited to: NCAA and Drake University compliance processes, competition scheduling, business and finance paperwork, facilities reservations, community service functions, event planning, and fundraising, etc. - (Essential)
10% - Assist with scouting and game preparation, including video and statistical reviews. - (Essential)
5% - Demonstrate appropriate communication related to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, prospects, campus community, etc.) - (Essential)
