ABOUT CSA
CSA was originally founded as Collegiate Sports Associates in 2010 by Todd Turner. Todd has spent his entire career as a leader in higher education. Before founding Collegiate Sports Associates, Todd worked for over 30 years on a college campus, holding university leadership positions at five different NCAA institutions.
It was Todd’s time as a campus practitioner that inspired him to start Collegiate Sports Associates. As a former Director of Athletics, Todd’s expertise in intercollegiate athletics positioned the firm well to provide consulting and executive search services related to intercollegiate athletics. In 2023, Collegiate Sports Associates transitioned to new leadership when Drew Turner stepped into the role of President. Drew was elevated into the role after spending the previous four years as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). As with Todd, Drew began his career working on campus – holding athletics administration positions at three different Division I institutions.
Under Todd’s and Drew’s leadership, CSA has flourished into one of the most prominent executive search and consulting firms in higher education. Over the past 15 years, CSA has successfully completed more than 400 projects with over 175 different NCAA institutions. This work includes executive searches for Vice Presidents, Directors of Athletics, Senior Administrators, and Head Coaches, as well as consulting projects such as strategic planning, athletics department reviews, conference landscape analyses, and other department and conference consulting projects.
In July of 2025, Collegiate Sports Associates rebranded as CSA Executive Search & Consulting. Concurrent with the rebrand was the launch of a new division: CSA Academics. While CSA will continue to provide first-class executive search and consulting services to the industry of intercollegiate athletics, it has expanded its executive search services to a broader market within higher education. CSA Academics will partner with its university clients on executive search processes for Presidents, Provosts, Vice Presidents, Deans, among other senior campus officials.
In conjunction with the launch of our new division, CSA hired Charles E. Kaler, J.D. to lead the company’s Academics practice and added senior consultant, Dr. Randy Woodson, to support the academics search practice.
