Assistant Athletic Coach - Women's Basketball

The Assistant Coach supports all facets of Creighton’s NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball program, contributing to on-court development, recruiting, and the day-to-day operations that keep a high-performing team running smoothly. Working under the direction of the Head Coach, this role helps build a program where student-athletes thrive academically, athletically, and personally.

We’re looking for a highly organized professional who brings strong basketball acumen and an even stronger ability to build relationships — with student-athletes, recruits, families, and colleagues across Creighton Athletics. The right person is a trusted connector who represents the program with integrity and elevates the people around them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of practices, conditioning, strength training, and individual player development

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit Creighton’s academic and athletic standards

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the Athletics department and broader University community

  • Coordinate team travel logistics and assist with day-to-day program operations

  • Supervise and develop student workers and team managers

  • Scout opponents, break down film, and contribute to game-planning and in-game strategy

  • Support student-athlete academic progress, wellness, and personal development

  • Ensure full compliance with all NCAA, BIG EAST Conference, and University rules and regulations

  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for Creighton Athletics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 3-5 years of related coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basketball concepts, strategies, and NCAA rules and regulations

  • Proven recruiting ability and sharp eye for assessing athletic talent

  • Exceptional organizational skills and a professional presence in all settings

  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
