Position Summary:
The Graduate Assistant Soccer Goalkeeping Coach assists the head coaches in various aspects of the men's and women's soccer program, with a specific focus on the training and development of the team's goalkeepers.
Principle Duties:
Goalkeeper Training and Development:
Plan, organize, and conduct daily training sessions specifically designed for goalkeepers.
Develop and implement drills to improve technique, tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and mental strength of goalkeepers.
Provide individual coaching and feedback to goalkeepers.
Evaluate goalkeeper performance during training and games.
Assist in the development of game plans and strategies related to goalkeeping.
Recruiting:
Identify and evaluate potential goalkeeper recruits through scouting games, video analysis, and communication with high school and club coaches.
Assist with on-campus recruiting visits.
Maintain a database of prospective goalkeepers.
Game Day Responsibilities:
Warm up goalkeepers before matches.
Provide technical and tactical advice to goalkeepers during games.
Analyze goalkeeper performance post-game.
Team Support:
Assist the head coach and other assistant coaches in various aspects of team training sessions.
Help with team travel arrangements.
Assist with equipment management.
Contribute to team meetings and film sessions.
Administrative Duties:
Assist with administrative tasks related to the soccer program, such as scheduling, communication with athletes, and maintaining records.
Help with fundraising and promotional activities.
Ensure compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Academic Monitoring:
Support the academic progress of student-athletes.
Communicate with academic advisors and support staff as needed.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Represent the university and the soccer program in a professional manner.
Essential Qualifications :
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Enrollment or acceptance into a graduate program at the university.
Experience
Previous playing experience as a goalkeeper at the collegiate level (preferred).
Previous coaching experience working with goalkeepers (preferred).
Strong knowledge of goalkeeping techniques, tactics, and training methods.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Proficiency in basic computer skills and relevant software (e.g., video analysis software).
Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
CPR/AED certification
Ability to pass a background check.
