Job Title: Assistant Commissioner for Communications

SUMMARY
Serve as the primary communications and media liaison with Men’s Basketball and other assigned sports consisting of writing articles, features, etc. Assist with overall administration of the communications department. Assist with social media aspects of promoting the CAA and the membership. Serve as the media director for the Men’s Basketball Championship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Serves as the direct media contact and representative Men’s Basketball and other assigned sports within the conference.
II. Produce and distribute weekly reports and select Players of the Week for assigned sports; Game day reports and on an as-needed basis for postseason for assigned sports.
III. Coordinate and communicate relevant news for specific sports. Develop plans for distribution of the news, importance of planned release and its value for web, written or social and digital media distribution.
IV. Compile and maintain statistics for assigned sports.
V. Assist with all aspects of social media, including and not limited to the creation of templates, distribution, and strategies.
VI. Assist with the daily maintenance for CAASports.com.
VII. Oversee and implement online awards program via CAASports.com.
VIII. Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting StatBroadcast.
IX. Update and maintain the CAA Record Book.
X. Generate content and design the CAA Championship Program.
XI. Assist in managing the Communications Department along with the Senior Associate Commissioner.
XII. Supervise the Director of Communications.
XIII. Coordinate player/coach interviews and press releases with membership sports information directors for assigned sports
XIV. Serve as a liaison for the Enhancement Committee and the Selection Committee in assigned sports.
XV. Serve media director for Men’s Basketball Championship and responsible for all media relations and communications for Championships of other assigned sports.
XVI. Communicate with television partners for broadcasts
XVII. Ability to work nights and/or weekends when required as well as travel associated with Conference Championships.
XVIII. Ability to regularly lift 25 pounds.
XIX. Other duties may be assigned
SKILLS
I. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office to include: Outlook, Word, Excel.
II. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat)
III. Possess knowledge of social media tools, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.
IV. Possess the ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-management, institutional personnel, and vendors.
V. Be familiar with and proficient in statistical software with a preference for the Stat Crew program.
PRINCIPLE CONTACTS
Daily: CAA sport administration staff; CAA communications staff; CAA Video; CAA Broadcast.
Weekly: CAA member institutions; Media; Student- Athletes.
Monthly: Other CAA staff members.

Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.

This is a mid-level management position with a minimum of 5 years of experience required and the salary range of $63,000 to $66,000. This position has the option of remote work within the eastern time zone and will be required to travel to various championships and conference meetings.
