The Graduate Assistant position with Clemson offers a unique opportunity for graduate students to contribute to the production of documentary and long-form video projects while gaining practical experience in a professional setting. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you will have the opportunity to learn about every stage of the production process and contribute to meaningful projects that make a difference.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Assist with Research and Pre-Production**: Conduct research, gather resources, and assist with pre-production tasks such as location scouting, securing permits, and scheduling interviews.
2. **Production**: Assist with on-location filming, equipment setup, and operation during production shoots, including archiving events. Film athletic events, interviews, other B-roll required for client projects. Provide logistical support to ensure smooth execution of production plans.
3. **Post-Production**: Edit segments of Documentaries and long form shows for Clemson as well as full features. Assist with organizing and logging footage. Learn about the editing workflow and contribute to the creation of rough cuts and assembly edits.
4. **Administrative Tasks**: Provide general administrative support to the production team, including organizing files, scheduling meetings, and maintaining production calendars.
5. **Learning and Development**: Take advantage of opportunities for mentorship and professional development, learning from experienced professionals in the field of media production.
**Qualifications:**
- Strong interest in documentary filmmaking or long-form video production, with a basic to keen and grow in the field.
- Desire to learn and use video production equipment and software preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is required.
- Experience with cinema cameras or DSLRs, particularly with the Sony line of cameras, is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
