Job Description:

This position will serve as a senior member of the athletics administrative team responsible for departmental strategic planning, supervision and management of the safety and well-being of students, coaches, and staff and oversees all home athletics events operating under NCAA Division II and conference operating bylaws and regulations as well as managing a growing intramural program and campus recreational facilities.

Expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct responsibility for the oversight and management of athletic contests in a professional manner, interfacing with users of the facilities, coordinating event staffing (i.e., ticket takers, security, etc.) before, during and following an event
  • Determine physical and human resource needs for each event and coordinate event set-up and breakdown
  • Assist with home sports event administration and coordination of conference and NCAA championships in which we are the host institution
  • Coordinate events of external entities hosted on campus that utilize athletic and/or recreational facilities
  • Recruit, select, train, schedule, and supervise part-time and student employees serving as facility and event staff for athletic and recreational events
  • Enhance athletics department community relations by marketing, promoting, and communicating engagement activities and positive game environment initiatives
  • Work with other departments on campus, including events, marketing, and communications, for servicing and promotional needs
  • Assist with written and oral communication with clients, members, and a variety of other professionals
  • Represent the organization at meetings sponsored by national, state, and local organizations related to sports and event management
  • Assist in developing strategies and best practices for event and crowd management
  • Coordinate and direct intramural sports program
  • Support hall-of-fame initiatives and enhance alumni relations
  • Implement emergency plans and procedures
  • Maintain all functions of the swimming pool and scheduling of personnel
  • Support the vision of the CBU Athletics Department, helping develop and implement a marketing strategy in order to enhance the brand and tell the stories of CBU Athletics
  • Other duties as assigned

This position reports to the Director of Athletics. It must develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students while interacting successfully with department personnel and the College community.

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specific to this position.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills are required.
  • Must have or obtain AED/CPR certification.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Five (5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specific to this position.
