BASIC FUNCTION
The Director for Governance and Compliance will serve as the initial staff contact for
compliance and governance inquiries emanating from the membership to include
student-athletes, coaches, parents, and fans. The position will maintain the CIAA/NCAA
compliance and governance calendar, deadlines, and assist the conference office and
membership (when appropriate) in meeting such. The position will be responsible for
compliance and governance adverse, educational, and informational
communication(s) across the membership, as well as monitoring the digital and social
media content appearing on all relevant outlets for adherence to CIAA and NCAA
guidelines & policies. The position will assist in managing championship compliance
components as directed by governance and compliance supervisor, and manage all
compliance related media assets, including digital, video and photography.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the execution of applicable governance and compliance conference and
national deadlines through the formulation, monitoring and maintenance of a
comprehensive calendar of all required CIAA and NCAA deadlines, notifications, and
announcements.
• Issue notices of adverse actions at the direction of supervisor.
• Collect, review, and evaluate various compliance and championship submissions in
coordination with designated staff for certification and eligibility.
• Coordinate governance and compliance centric meetings and events.
• Manage materials preparation for assigned meetings.
• Develop, schedule, and implement a social media calendar.
• Assist in tracking, reporting and the utilization of compliance analytics.
• Responsible for attending NCAA Convention business session and rules
education events —as directed.
• Assist with brand management.
• Assist in committee management.
• Provide support to assist with the function and execution required for CIAA
membership, internal/external staff and partners.
• Assist with championships and event support as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years experience in collegiate athletics administration; preferably in the direct administering of compliance and governance for an institutional athletics department, athletics conference, etc. The person must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, in public forums. Excellent writing and organizational skills are preferred. Must demonstrate clear knowledge of the collegiate athletic model as well as NCAA rules and regulations, and a working knowledge of NCAA DII is preferred. Analytical skills are preferred, with the ability to identify opportunities for operational success. Demonstrated high-level proficiency in Microsoft
(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant software is a plus. The position requires travel (including late-night and multi day) to institutions and events, including championships and meetings. The person will be able to represent the CIAA at all events and institutional visits, assisting the CIAA staff in additional roles, as needed.
