• Head Football AT Support- Two full-time certified athletic trainers exclusively dedicated for football sports medicine. Full Time Head Team Physician, Mental Health Counselor and Insurance Coordinator/Referral Specialist. 1-2 visiting MSAT students, 15 undergraduate sports medicine interns.

• Job Security- Medical Model with Student Health and Counseling Services. This allows for direct reporting lines to licensed healthcare professionals, and for AT’s to truly feel supported and confident in making independent medical decisions

SPORT COVERAGE

• Provide direct care for football student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment and emergency response to injuries.

• Ensure proper implementation of health care protocols and activate Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) as required.

• Oversee practice, event coverage and team travel.

• Maintain positive relationships with physician, insurance coordinator and those outside services that provide care for our student-athletes.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with Sacramento State Student Health, Counseling, Wellness Services, NCAA and NATABOC.

• Ability to learn Point N Click Electronic Health Records System. AT’s use this one system for all student-athlete documentation, which provides holistic care with all medical providers of student health and counseling services.

• Fully responsible for all administrative and management needs of football sports medicine operations. No additional responsibilities will be added, unless requested by employee for professional growth purposes.

• Provide positive leadership to two full-time certified athletic trainers.

LEADERSHIP and MENTORSHIP

• Positive Leadership and Mentorship to staff athletic trainers, visiting MSAT students and undergraduate student interns.

• Assign tasks, set goals, set clear expectations for practice and game responsibilities and communicate program needs to supervisor

• Assist in providing feedback of assistant athletic trainers’ job performance for performance evaluations.

• Continuing learning and improving leadership and mentorship skills

COMMUNICATION

• Maintain effective communication with student athletes, all football coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, physicians, sports medicine staff, nutrition staff, mental health staff and administration regarding student-athlete participation and care plans.

• Mentor staff on communication strategies and conflict resolution

CONTINUING EDUCATION and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• Maintain necessary certifications to practice as an ATC and remain in

“good standing” with the NATABOC

• Develop expertise in specialized area and mentor others in those areas

• Participate in professional organizations and committees at local, regional or national levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in athletic training or related field

• 3-5 years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer working in collegiate football or equivalent.

• Current NATABOC certification

• Current CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer

• Valid Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Division I FBS/FCS football

• Excellent Communication Skills

• Ability to work effectively under high pressure environments

• Passion for providing holistic care to student-athletes
