Buena Vista University is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Head Cross County/Assistant Track & Field Coach to lead our intercollegiate cross-country program. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of coaching success at the high school or collegiate level, a passion for student-athlete development, and a strong commitment to academic and athletic achievement. A director-level role may be considered for candidates with a proven track record of success at the collegiate level and applicable experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the intercollegiate cross-country program operations, including training, competition schedules, and athlete development.
Recruiting: Attract and recruit high-caliber student-athletes to join the cross-country program, ensuring alignment with the university's academic and athletic standards.
Fundraising: Lead efforts to fundraise for the cross-country program, working closely with alumni, donors, and the community to support team activities and needs.
Budget Management: Supervise the program's budget, ensuring that financial resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.
Required Qualifications:
-Demonstrated successful coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, with a proven track record of success.
-Strong commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
-Experience in recruiting student-athletes and fostering their growth both academically and athletically.
-Ability to manage team dynamics, including fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
-Bachelor’s degree
-Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for competitions and recruiting events.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree
-Previous experience in program fundraising and budget management.
-A background in working with diverse student-athlete populations.
