Buena Vista University invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This full-time role supports the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer with responsibilities including coordinating the care, prevention, and treatment of athletic injuries for student-athletes who participate in 21 NCAA III varsity sports programs, including emerging programs in Women's Wrestling and STUNT. The responsibilities are shared amongst four full-time athletic trainers, some part-time athletic trainers who assist when needed, and student interns. Sports assignments are flexible per the candidate’s preference.
This is a full-time role with 8 weeks off annually, a $5,000 signing bonus, moving expense stipend and generous five-year retention bonus. NATA membership and state licensure expenses are covered and yearly funds for CEU’s is provided.

Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with student-athletes, coaches, and medical professionals to deliver comprehensive athletic training services.
Perform athletic training duties for varsity athletic teams, with assignments coordinated by the Director of Athletic Training.
Coverage at athletics events – home and away (travel sports include football, soccer, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and softball).
Injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation.
Arrange injury and illness treatment with team physicians and other medical personnel as necessary.
Maintain complete, accurate, and detailed medical records.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. BOC certification required and must be eligible to file for Iowa licensure and must hold and maintain current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. New grads are encouraged to apply.
