Director of Hockey Operations

Summary

The Director of Operations will oversee the daily operation of the of the hockey office, including travel logistics, video needs, camps, alumni/donor correspondence, and academic monitoring. This position will travel with the team and assist with all logistics.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate team travel logistic for home and away games. Assist with the development of annual travel budget and monitor all travel expenses in a fiscal year. Coordinate all land and air transportation and hotel arrangements. Arrange for team meals. Make provisions for cash advances and handle and distribute as needed. File all travel for all league road games as required by the CCHA.

  • Daily Operations in working with the coaching staff with the flow of daily correspondence and day to day operations of running a sport program. Work with coaches to develop short- and long-range planning. Makes recommendations to coaches to improve/change current policies/procedures.

  • Responsible for Team Video Needs. Responsible to upload all games. Facilitate all post-game break downs and pre-scout needs. Create and edit individual student-athlete video needs. Responsible for all video equipment needed for road games.

  • Coordinate team activities. Prepare monthly calendar for team events, practices, community service, marketing initiatives and media relations. Coordinate and organize the end of year banquet and senior send off for each season. Schedule and oversee all logistics of event.  

  • Alumni/Donor Correspondence. Send out a weekly email newsletter about coaches, previous games, future games, BG players in the pros, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application.

The following Experience is required: 

  • One year of experience in a college, junior hockey, club and/or professional hockey support staff setting and/or coaching. Prefer involvement in the filming, editing, and/or scouting of hockey games and practices utilizing a professional video platform (ie. DVSPort, XOS, HUDL, etc).

    • Two years of experience as a GA or student employee is equal to one year of professional experience

The following Experience is preferred:

  • Involvement in the filming, editing, and/or scouting of hockey games and practices utilizing a professional video platform (ie. DVSPort, XOS, HUDL, etc).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of intercollegiate athletics

  • Effective communication both written and oral

  • Ability to work with groups of student-athletes

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to understand simple budgeting principles

  • Understanding of video editing software specific to sport application

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
