Associate Athletic Director, Revenue Generation and Membership Development

The Associate Athletic Director, Revenue Generation and Membership Development is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and oversight of key revenue generation initiatives for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Using a data-driven approach, the person in this position will enhance areas of revenue generation and lead out the execution of the comprehensive revenue generation pillar of the What’s Next 2.0 strategic initiative and any subsequent revenue generation strategic plans.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and develop strategic and creative revenue-generation initiatives for Boise State Athletics.

  • Lead and manage staff members within our Bronco Athletic Association (BAA), athletics ticket sales team, and athletic ticket operations teams, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing culture focused on the annual fund, customer service, and membership development.

  • Work in conjunction with our major gifts and sports & entertainment teams to be a partner in executing initiatives for the entire department.

  • Oversee athletic ticket sales and ticket operations to create a data-driven approach to sales and retention strategies, pricing, and inventory management.

  • Oversee the integration and alignment of ticket operations and Bronco Athletic Association membership development to maximize customer engagement, donor retention, and revenue growth opportunities.

  • Develop, manage, and execute multi-year revenue-generation strategies with a primary focus on football and men’s basketball while identifying growth opportunities across all sports programs.

  • Demonstrate a tenacity and determination to identify, cultivate, and achieve new and non-traditional revenue opportunities to drive new revenue to the athletics department in traditional, creative, and innovative ways.

  • Build adaptable and innovative sales funnels designed to capitalize on marketing strategies, premium seating opportunities, special events, and fan engagement initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively with marketing, communications, creative services, sponsorship, and external relations units to maximize integrated revenue and fan engagement strategies.

  • Partner with the foundation for Bronco Athletic Growth Solutions, including being an Ad Hoc committee member to the Board, as delegated.

  • Maintain knowledge of department ticketing software (e.g. Ticketmaster) and external systems while serving as liaison between Boise State Athletics and ticketing service providers.

  • Evaluate all policies and procedures for relevance and updates to ensure compliance with University, Conference, State, Federal, and NCAA regulations.

  • Effectively manage and develop younger team members while serving as a strong recruiter and talent developer within the department.

  • Oversee all aspects of ticketing sales and operations for postseason events, championships, bowl games, and special events in Boise or remote locations.

  • Interact and collaborate with University departments and external partners to maximize operational effectiveness and identify new business opportunities.

  • Manage escalated customer service and donor relations issues as needed.

  • Prepare various financial reports, projections, and analyses while tracking revenue trends and making strategic recommendations based on findings

  • Serve as a member of the Athletics Department Senior Staff Team.

  • Serve as Sport Program Administrator for a to-be-determined program.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and the evolving collegiate athletics landscape.

  • Experience and understanding of revenue generation, ticket sales, premium seating, donor services, and external operations.

  • Ability to manage, organize, motivate, and develop staff in a fast-paced environment with a focus on strong customer service and membership development.

  • Knowledge of current business issues and emerging trends impacting college athletics.

  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing innovative strategies and procedures.

  • Ability to develop and execute creative revenue-generation plans, programs, and initiatives.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow novel business and revenue opportunities.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various individuals within the community.

  • Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Demonstrated curiosity, creativity, adaptability, and a “What’s Next” mentality.

  • Experience working collaboratively across sales, marketing, development, and fan engagement units.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Eight (8) years of professional experience, including 3 years of managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of experience working in collegiate athletics.

  • Sales management experience working with a professional sports organization or within college athletics.

  • Supervisory experience with a proven record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Demonstrated success in revenue generation and developing innovative business strategies.

  • Experience overseeing premium seating, annual giving, donor services, or external operations functions.

  • Experience developing alternative revenue streams and entrepreneurial business initiatives.

  • Demonstrated understanding of evolving trends within collegiate athletics, including media rights, NIL, and commercial partnerships.

  • Experience working collaboratively across sales, marketing, development, and fan engagement units.

Salary and Benefits:
