Assistant Director, Varsity B

Boise State Athletics is looking for a dedicated leader to serve as the heart of our Varsity B alumni community. You’ll be the primary point of contact for our former athletes, finding creative ways to grow our membership and keep our Bronco family connected through fresh marketing and digital storytelling. From celebrating current student-athletes with their first Letterwinner jackets to hosting reunions and career networking events, this role is all about building meaningful bridges between generations. You’ll work closely with the BAA and BroncoLIFE to steward and maintain relationships to ensure our alumni stay engaged, inspired, and supported long after their playing days are over, while finding meaningful ways for them to give back and financially support the program. It’s a unique opportunity to maintain our traditions and help every athlete find their place in our professional and social network.

Essential Job Functions:

Varsity B Membership and Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Varsity B, managing day-to-day operations and keeping our alumni community vibrant.

  • Brainstorm and test new ways to increase membership and keep our former athletes actively involved with Boise State.

  • Meet with current Broncos to teach them about the Varsity B legacy and what it means to be “Once A Bronco, Always A Bronco.”

  • Work closely with designated department staff to create marketing campaigns that promote, grow membership, and increase revenue for the Varsity B brand.

  • Manage the tradition of awarding Varsity Letters and the iconic letterwinner jackets to our graduating student-athletes.

  • Keep our alumni database organized and up-to-date, so the department never loses touch with our Bronco family.

  • Collaborate with the Bronco Athletic Association (BAA) to steward alumni to find meaningful ways to give back[1.1] and financially support the next generation of student-athletes. Assist with annual giving renewals, correspondence, program benefits, and solicitations of donors for the program.

Communication Strategies:

  • Manage and grow our digital presence across social media, LinkedIn, the Athlete Network, and the department website to keep alumni informed and engaged.

  • Develop creative ways to increase the visibility of the Varsity B brand, so every current student-athlete and alumnus knows the value of being a member.

  • Launch fun, outreach-focused campaigns to reconnect with "lost" alumni and welcome them back into the Boise State family.

Special Events and Recognition:

  • Partner with Athletics, BAA, and Alumni Association to help plan and host exciting events like homecoming, sport reunions, and alumni weekends that celebrate the Bronco legacy.

  • Create fun and engaging opportunities with the BroncoLIFE program for current student-athletes to meet and learn from former Boise State Letterwinners.

  • Help organize career networking events with the BroncoLIFE program that bridge the gap between the playing field and the professional world by connecting students with alumni in the workforce.

  • Attend events (e.g., all football home games, designated Olympic home sporting events, alumni events, etc.), which include nights and weekends to steward and maintain relationships with alumni.

  • Be responsible for maintaining NCAA, Conference, and Boise State Rules Compliance.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining good relationships.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while establishing and cultivating working relationships with internal and external customers in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor.

  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities, and successfully manage multiple priority projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute social media, email, and direct mail communication strategies that increase engagement.

  • Knowledge of position-related NCAA rules and compliance.

  • Working knowledge and/or experience with stewardship for annual giving fundraising.

  • Working knowledge of Athlete Network.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Former intercollegiate student-athlete.

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.

  • One (1) year of experience coordinating events.

  • One (1) year of experience working within an athletics department.

  • A valid Driver's License.

Salary and Benefits:
