The Big Ten Conference is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Sports Administration. This position serves as a primary Conference liaison to assigned Olympic sport programs, collaborating effectively with coaches, administrators, campus personnel, and internal staff. The Assistant Director enhances the student-athlete experience through the planning and execution of world-class championships for assigned sports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as the primary Conference liaison for assigned sports
Collaborate with coaches and administrators for assigned sports, including the execution of annual coaches meetings
Plan and execute championships and tournaments for assigned sports -
Update and ensure adherence to game management and championship manuals for assigned sports
Provide expertise on sport specific matters, including scheduling and current issues, in consultation with coaches, admin and conference leadership
Build genuine relationships with campus sport administrators, facility managers, and event personnel
Conduct ongoing assessments and evaluations of sport programs and recommend changes and enhancements as needed
Assist with the flagging and resolution of sportsmanship issues related to assigned sports
Discover innovative programs to strengthen and improve the student-athlete experience
Ensure constant communication with internal stakeholders, including television, officiating, marketing, and communications departments to ensure all parties are in alignment with respect to assigned sports
Foster a culture of inclusion to support a diverse environment

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree is required
2+ years of college athletics experience is preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated knowledge and passion of college athletics, especially Olympic sports
Ability to maintain punctual attendance and timely correspondence
Commitment to travel, work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours
