
Communications Intern
The Big Sky Conference is seeking a Communications Intern. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the execution of Big Sky external communication efforts. The Communications Intern will report to the Associate Commissioner for Communications and External Relations.
The successful candidate should possess a sincere interest in understanding, supporting, and promoting intercollegiate athletics, and must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
Essential functions include:
• Assisting Communications staff with day-to-day video content needs for the conference office and its membership
• Producing video content for the conference’s social media channels, which include editing highlight reels, interviews, and other assigned projects
• Assisting with video content and other promotional marketing materials for the league’s conference championships
• Traveling to some Big Sky Championships throughout the year
• Assisting Communications staff with other day-to-day assignments
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience creating short-form video content for social media platforms
• Proficiency with video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro (comparable alternative will be considered)
• Experience capturing video using Canon or Sony camera equipment
• Experience using Microsoft Office products
Additional Information:
Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree before starting this position. Experience working in intercollegiate athletics or having been a student-athlete is preferred. Former Big Sky student-athletes are strongly encouraged to apply.
This position is anticipated to start in August or early September 2026, and conclude no later than May 31, 2027, and will work twenty-five (25) hours per week on average. The position will pay fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) per month and does not include benefits. This position will work in person at the conference office in Farmington, Utah, located 15 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.
