The Big 12 Conference, Inc. is searching for candidates to provide comprehensive human resource management for the Conference office. This position will oversee the complete human resource function with emphasis on change management, benefits administration, recruitment and retention of talent, performance management, professional development, staff fulfilment, and more. The Human Resources Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer & Human Resources.
The ideal candidate for this position will have expansive human resource experience, an authentic and engaging disposition, and a proven ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
In addition to familiarity in working in a fast paced and dynamic environment, this position will bring energy and enthusiasm combined with contemporary practices and new ideas to enhance organizational processes and culture and make improvements that enrich the staff experience across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Align and measure human resource policies and objectives to ensure fulfillment of the organization’s goals, mission, vision, and core values.
Manage a comprehensive benefits program that is competitive and cost-effective.
Manage and enhance the onboarding and offboarding processes.
Manage and enhance staff performance evaluation processes.
Develop and manage internship program servicing various organizational needs.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Develop, deploy, and regularly enhance staff training and professional development processes and programs that will enable the organization to attract, retain, develop, and motivate a highly skilled and productive workforce.
Regularly provide staff across the organization with tools and coaching to create a positive, highly engaged, and results-oriented culture.
Manage staff complaints and conduct investigations and other staff relations matters in an expeditious, confidential, and professional manner.
Manage time and attendance reporting and respond to staff questions regarding such.
Assist with the implementation and execution of benefits and compensation programs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for human resources related questions or concerns.
Aim to create a collaborative workplace culture where staff understand how their duties contribute to the organization's overarching mission.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or similar experience strongly preferred.
5+ years of experience in human resource management to include benefits administration, performance management, and professional development.
Professional certificates (SHRM) and/or an advanced degree preferred.
Proven ability to influence at all levels across the organization, including staff and constituents, and maintain confidentiality across highly sensitive matters.
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and assessing staff training and related strategies, initiatives, and programs.
Strong business acumen and understanding of legal matters, with the ability to develop inclusion initiatives and have solid communication and compassionate nature.
The ability to work under stringent deadlines and quickly adapt to change.
Excellent communication skills; high comfort level of presenting at a leadership level; and can balance building trust, navigating challenging conversations, and staff relations.
Demonstrated skills in problem identification and creative problem solving, sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking and analysis, organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and cultural humility.
General computer literacy skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, databases, and HR related software.
Experience working in a fast-paced and hands-on environment while juggling multiple projects at once and maintaining organization of projects.
Ability to work long, flexible hours including, evenings, weekends and holidays as well as ability to travel if required.
